Update on Pixie's Litter

Just a quick note to update everyone on Pixie's 1st litter.  Pixie is being such a good little mommy.  At first I'm certain she was very unsure of what she was to do with these squeeking little bundle of quills surrounding her, and she had them in the oddest of places.  Pixie decided to have her babies under the cage fleece liner under the litter box under the exercise wheel LOL.  We thought at first we only saw three, but after checking back after two days we found there are actually four and one must have been hiding under mom.  Of course to make things more comfortable for mom and babies, I removed the litter pan for her to have room. The litter has two runts, one more of a runt than the other and after three days of being under the wheel, litter box and liner, Pixie decided to move the babies into her hide away home.  That evening for some reason, I thought to take a check on the babies to see how all were doing.  When I went to Pixie's pen the liner was flat and for some reason something kept urging me to take a peek under neath it.  Sure enough my suspicion was spot on and Pixie had left the tiniest of the runts behind.,  It looked as though she had made the attempt to move him but tired or just left him.  Most times mom's leave little one's isolated from the others when they know they are sick or otherwise and they pass.  I saw that he was still wiggling so I gently picked him up with one of Pixie's nesting blankets and put him in with his siblings hoping Pixie wouldn't reject him and put him outside the nest.  I am happy to report that Pixie didn't reject him and he is thriving right along side of his siblings.  Though he is still the runt of the litter, he is catching up fast to his siblings.  I will update the post in the next week or so with new pictures of the four babies, as soon as Mom takes a well deserved break from the babies and I can take some LOL.  Until next time "Stay Quilled"
