Heidi has had her little one's. Born in the late hours of the evening and into the wee hours of the morning, Heidi gave birth to three new babies. Both mother and babies are doing fine. They were born April 12/13, 2011.
When mom has settled in with her babies and won't be disturbed by our presence, I will take some photo's to post to the blog so everyone can see how they progress over the next few weeks before they go to their new Fur-ever homes.
We will soon be breeding for an August litter release as well as planned litters for September and October and then likely for January of 2012.
We will also be adding a new male to our herd this coming summer to early fall. We are hoping to add a dark coloured male to the herd to begin to get colour variations in our new borns.
Its amazing how tiny these little creatures are when they are born, they are no longer than an average half of one of your fingers i.e. the index or pinky finger, and so PINK with soft white baby quills in the first few weeks. It is always such an exciting time to watch the babies develop over the next six weeks before they go to their new homes.
We are very happy that both "Mom Heidi" and her little ones are healthy and thriving. We will keep you updated on their development. Until then "Stay Quilled".
