I found a calming position for Bristol
Bristol is not always a very calm Hedgie, so I've been working with her diligently to bring her around to be calm. In her baths when she is floating on her back is the only time she actually stops hissing or clicking, and it didn't even occur to me that it may work outside the bath. Bristol isn't a snuggly Hedgie as my other one's are, she is an independant but curious little girl. Her ideal position though to ensure she is calm and can show she trusts me is to be on her back in the palm of your hands cupped together. As long as there is no movement or changing of hands, Bristol likes this position and ALMOST falls asleep. Just as she dozes off though she remembers where she is and suddenly struggles to right herself to the normal standing position. To gain her trust further, I don't allow her to right herself, but keep her in the on her back position to work at having her be calm around me instead of hissing and clicking. Especially now that she is pregnant, I'd like her to remain calm throughout the next couple of weeks, so her babies don't come out hissing with their fists up ready for a fist fight LOL. Just joking. I have found her ideal position and it will be much easier to work at gaining her trust now that we have a position where she is trusting of me. Yeayyy only took me two months to determine how to get her to be a calmer mommy :). Patience is truly a virtue in Bristols case, and without it I may never have realized the calming position for her. A little lesson for anyone having issue's... exercise patience and try several things before giving up entirely. See her pictures of the calming position.
