What? Your hedgie is hissing at you alot lately? He/She seems to be perturbed each and every time you pick him/her up? Well not to panic or worry, they still love you except, did you know that during a Hedgehog's early life cycle he/she loses and renews quills. Did you also know that there are two muscles in the Hedgie's back which have the control for quills to rise and fall and spike when they contort themselves into a ball?
The following are the times which a Hedgie is experiencing some sort of quill change and the changes can affect his/her deameanor:
First quilling 4 weeks
Second quilling 6 weeks
Third quilling: 9 weeks
Adult quilling 12 weeks
Here's how to help your hoglet and become your it's hero! Simply bath him/her with "Aveeno Oatmeal Shampoo".(Careful not to get into their eyes). This has been known to relieve the itching and pain experienced with the quilling process. You will definitely be a big hit with your hoglet after the oatmeal shampoo bath!! Try it and let us know about your experience.
